Connecticut Parrot Society Adoption

The Connecticut Parrot Society helps residents of Connecticut with the placement of their birds. If you need to place your bird, we request your bird remain with you while we list the bird for adoption on this website and in our newsletter. We only adopt out to members of the Connecticut Parrot Society. We are not a parrot rescue or sanctuary, thus we cannot accept emergency placement on a regular basis. Our foster care housing is limited, and unless we have available foster homes, we may have to refer emergency placement to other clubs or rescues in the surrounding area.

Please print a copy of the CPS Relinquish Parrot form and mail to the address on the form. A CPS Adoption committee person will contact you upon its receipt.

The Adoption Program is available to all CPS members. New members are also eligible to adopt without a waiting period. All applicants for Adoption and Fostering for CPS must complete and mail the appropriate form.

Matisse

Matisse is a 24 yr old sexed female Blue Fronted Amazon. She has been with the same owner her entire life. She has not been handled on a routine basis for 2 yrs. However, on the occasions when she is away from her cage she will get on one’s shoulder and has never bitten once there. She will scream when the owner leaves the room, but not on a constant basis. She is large, perfectly feathered, and very beautiful. During the home visit she was very animated, comical, sang and talked constantly. She has had an entire life of love and TLC and with patience and some work should make a wonderful companion. She is on Zupreem natural maintenance pellets, fruits, vegetables, table food, and various nuts. Matisse comes with a large cage.
